Just a Taste...

We're back from the distant land where my oldest sister Chris recently got hitched... It was a the biggest whirlwind of a trip I have ever possibly experienced, but maybe the finest? A mere 20-hour flight (not counting the layover) gets you across the world. Is it just me or is this insanity? While we were above the Atlantic, perfectly slicing through the space between South America and Africa, it took a great deal of motivated thinking to replace images of plummeting towards the uninhabited watery mass below with lovely imaginings of snapping photos of zebras, elephants, and giraffes... From the evidence below, you can see that my motivated thinking saved the day. Or, the highly trained pilots who flew our Boeing 777 (a formidable plane). Next, I have to tell you that I'm not really in a healthy enough state to give justice to the trip to SA. I'll leave you with these pictures, hoping you'll check back soon for more!

Reunited...

... and it feels so good!

After 21 months without seeing my best friend, we finally got together in the great Pacific Northwest. What a trip!! 9 days straight of j2 time. No more Pacific or Atlantic Oceans to divide us, no more teaching in Korea, no more gallavanting in Switzerland (Jenny), no more internet-less friendship in remote parts of BC (Jenny, again). Just the state of Oregon between my old chum and me. That's a distance I can live with, for now anyway.

Backyard Shower

Yesterday, my friend (if we want to get specific, my cousin-in-law's wife - let's just say my cousin) Katie Brownell and her baby boy (due November 6th) were showered with love at the Spicer homestead. We decorated the back deck and ... if I may say so, it looked lovely. I sure married into a family that can host a good party! I was given the job of photographing the event, so I thought I'd post a few, and give another big congrats to Katie and Luke!! Love you three...
